What can I expect on Sunday?

COME SOAR WITH US!
Zion Community Church invites you to join us on Sunday morning for worship. BUT, what can you expect when you show up? Below you will the answers to common questions that will help visitors to our church. Just click on the question and it will take you to the description.
Feel free to also contact us, if you have any questions!

- What is Your Worship Style?
Every Church has its own style and Zion Community Church is no different. People ask us if we are a traditional church, a contemporary church, or even a charismatic church. We tell people that at Zion Community Church, they will feel at home, no matter what style they are looking for. While we do not practice the miraculous gifts as some churches do, we are full of charisma! We believe that everyone will find a place where they can grow and meet Jesus.
Here are some important words that describe our “WORSHIP STYLE”:
- BLENDED - we are blended in at least three areas:
- Age of People - Acts 2:17 (NKJV) - And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.
- Music - Ephesians 5:19 (NLT) - singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.
- What We Wear - some come in suits, and some come in sweat pants. Some even come in football jerseys! We want the families to come as they are and we pledge to treat everyone the same! James 2:1-12
- CELEBRATION - Psalm 122:1 (NIV) - I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
- INSPIRATION - Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) - But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
- PREPARATION - John 17:17 (NKJV) - Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
- REVERENCE:
- Psalm 95:6 (NKJV) - Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
- Habakkuk 2:20 (NKJV) - But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him.

At Zion Community Church, we try to follow the Bible in all we do. This includes our Worship services. While we typically read from the New King James Version, we want you to know what you will find on Sunday morning:
Teaching & Preaching:
- Romans 16:25-27 (NKJV) - Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith— to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.
- 1 Corinthians 1:22-24 (NKJV) - For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Singing:
- Ephesians 5:19 (MSG) - Sing hymns instead of drinking songs! Sing songs from your heart to Christ.
Colossians 3:16 (NKJV) - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
- Hebrews 13:15 (NKJV) - Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
- 1 Corinthians 14:15 (NIV) - So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.
Praying:
- 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18, 25 (NLT) - Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus…. Dear brothers and sisters, pray for us.
- James 5:14 (NKJV) - Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
Giving:
Please note: we stress the importance of God’s leading when a person’s giving an offering in worship. This means that if you are a first time visitor, we don’t want you to feel the pressure to have to give an offering. Our members are called to support our church.
- 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 (NRSV) - Now concerning the collection for the saints: you should follow the directions I gave to the churches of Galatia. On the first day of every week, each of you is to put aside and save whatever extra you earn, so that collections need not be taken when I come.
- Malachi 3:10 (NIV) - Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
Regular Communion:
Zion Community Church takes communion on the first Sunday of every month. Everyone is invited to join us, but we ask that unbaptized children wait until they have made a public decision to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Matthew 26:26-28 (NKJV) - And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
- 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, 28 (NIV) - For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes…. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.
